I believe this book would be better marketed for a teen youth audience.Character names are a little clichè.
What struck me most was the lack of edit. Most notably: there, their, and they're.
The 'try and verb' phrase: Try and - is appropriate where the 'try' verb and the verb action following 'and' are two separate actions and the latter is dependent on the success of the attempt. Try to verb phrase: Try to 'some action verb' is appropriate where the latter verb is the action of the trial attempt and usually has not yet been initiated or is about to be initiated.
All the English grammar teacher pontificating done; I'll probably buy the sequel.

4stars because it started slowly in the beginning
Recommend to anyone who likes space battles
What more can I say
Liked the book. Not his best, but not bad.
I can't even find it in my library, so it must have been so bad I just deleted it after a few chapters.
Starstorm was mildly interesting, but I returned it after getting about halfway through, I just could not stand it any longer. Here's why
1. Character are cliches. No real character development..
2. Sadly lacking any type of real military orientation or realilsm. As a lover of space operas, I know I need to suspend reality a bit, but the battle scenes were poorly conceived, relationships between ranks were fantasies and the behavior of major characters was unrealistic,
3. Seems to be intended for a pre-teen audience due to a very simple sentence structure and lack of complexity in the plot.
4. Riddled with mis-pellings, run-on sentences and almost non-existent punctuation. I began to feel as if the author, and the editor or proofreader, knows English as a first language, Some samples from just three chapters (keyed in exactly as it appeared in the text; I finally got tired of typing)

The fighter bagan to veer off coarse do to its lost engine.
As it now turned out, he had the story of a life time.
It was larger in sized than a Star Sword.
His ship was wreathing from the massive explosion.
He then started a semi safe descent trajectory,
Their weapons were based on advance ion technology,
,,,the first thing they have to do is go discus it...
They dawned their helmets,,,to the very rear of the barge were there was a large ramp-style door.
They are also scapping together every pilot they can find.
I am hereby giving you a battle field promotion...

See if you can spot the errors! It's not hard for anyone with a high-school education.
Needless to say, I will NOT be purchasing any other titles from this author, and would recommend staying away from his work,
I liked the story, good character creation.
the story and fight scenes kept me Interested but for a novel in a military setting it was severely lacking in military customs and traditions.
also the forces seemed to be focused around the small fighters which seems to me as superfluous. wet navy cariers were
important because the weapons on a fighter can destroy ships. I don't see that as being true in giant space ships especially ones with energy shields.
The only redeeming feature was the action scenes, but they were by no means enough to rescue this one.
First, if you are going to write high tech SF, try and have some understanding of science and technology.
- You can't ignite plasma like some jet of gasoline
- Lasers don't shoot Ions, and are NOT interchangeable with particle cannons.
- They have a plasma engine that can get around the solar system in a few hours, yet have no compensation so would arrive as a thin paste.. Same with zipping in and out of asteroids.
- You, OMG, shoot a grapple at a speeding Fighter and don't get you arms ripped off?
Second, try typing and not rambling into some voice recognition software. So many phonetic errors my eyes are bleeding
- Do and Due are not interchangeable
- You Don a helmet, not Dawn it
- Coarse is not the same as Course, but you could set a coarse course...
Plot difficulties are huge and numerous. Hire an editor, a friend, someone who finished high school english.
- An alien empire has rendered themselves incapable of violence, not had a warrior in 1000 years, and somehow still has defended their border with a fleet and is considering a surprise attack. Eh what?
- Minutes after his fighter is rescued, a pilot is thrown into a Marine unit on a mission. Not a chance
- A LARGE number of units is attacking, later in the sentence it become 5 Fighters. not exactly large by any fashion.
- The Earth fleet has 800 fighter in one scene and pages later 100 destroyed is more than half.
I don't ask for refunds or return books, but this may well be the first. I am embarrassed I read 80% before running screaming.
Humans vs Aliens, rather just 3 superpowers, there isn't much background information about what's happened to the rest of the world.
Quite lacking in the technical aspects. Plasma drives? Alien space superiority fighter overhauled by jetpacked troops?!
This book reminded me a lot of the Wing Commander series, however it felt like some 100 chapters were taken out of the whole book, condensed enough to make any scifi reader read along, but not enough to get them interested/hooked into the "saga". I'm quite sure the following books will explain more, but i got used to scifi authors laying the foundation on the first book. Here's hoping the following books in the saga won't be rushed(seemed like the author was being chased by someone/something while writing the book.
